Announcement and personal post ahead!
I'm writing today because I want to say thank you and because I have something to share with you. First, thank you for more than six amazing years of business, Texas. You are home, you always have been, and I love you. But now it's time for a change. I'm going to Europe for a few months, and when I'm back, I'm going to plant roots somewhere farther west.
What's my plan? Well, it's a work in progress. I'll be back in the U.S. at the end of September, then I'm going to visit family and hop around some of my favorite cities where I want to spend more time as well as cities I've never visited. I'm not sure how long I'll do this. I guess until I get sick of it or find a better plan. But that's all I know now.
Effective June 28, I won't be "based" anywhere for a while, so most sessions and events will be destination. But let me make this clear… I would LOVE to meet you and photograph your most special moments while I'm traveling. I'll update the travel page on my website regularly and also post my travel plans on Instagram. It's going to take some time to figure out the best way to book photography work while traveling, and I will probably have to handle each session and event case-by-case. All I know is I'm not giving this business up, just putting it on wheels for a while.
Texas, it's been a pleasure to serve you for more than six years and I hope you invite me back to photograph your lovely events and relationships. To my Texas brides, I'm not ready to say goodbye just yet, so I want to extend local pricing to you through the end of 2017 (even for weddings in 2018). Beginning in 2018, all Texas weddings will be priced as destination events.
I'm feeling a million different emotions and this all feels so bittersweet. Texas has been home my entire life, but I'm so excited for the adventures ahead. Onward!
CLIENT QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Q: I booked my wedding with you, and now you're moving. Are you still shooting my wedding?
A: YES! Check your email — I sent you everything you need to know there. Don't fret. Nothing is changing about me shooting your wedding.
Q: I'm a bride in Texas, and I haven't booked you for my wedding but I want to. Does that mean I have to pay for your flight and hotel?
A: If you book with me before the end of the year, then no. The wedding itself doesn't have to be in 2017, but you do have to book this year to secure local pricing. Beginning 2018, sessions and events will be booked at destination pricing, which will vary by city, time of year, and other factors.
Q: I'm a bride in [non-Texas city]. Will you shoot my wedding?
A: YES! I would love to. Check my travel page to see if I'll be in your area soon, or contact me and we can arrange something just for you. Since I'll be traveling already and would love to travel even more, don't let the phrase "destination pricing" scare you. Plus, I'm probably willing to give a hefty discount if you live somewhere cool ;)
