My Guide to Austin

Well, this post has nothing to do with photography or business, but it's my blog and I'll do what I want! ;) Two of my girlfriends are coming into town in a few weeks, and I've been thinking about where I want to take them. It got me thinking about my favorite spots in Austin across the board. So I've decided to compile them here!

I'm really into gorgeous spaces and great food, so all of these spots get an A+ across the board for me. These are the kind of spots I take people to from out of town if I want to show off the best of Austin.

What are your favorite spots in Austin? Anything I missed? Let me know in the comments!

Flat Track

Tied at first place for my favorite coffee shop in Austin. It's a great work spot, and there are ALWAYS dogs to pet. No outdoor seating though. But I do love their mini chocolate donuts. | 1619 E. Cesar Chavez

This one wins for most gorgeous space in my book. There is also outdoor seating. Their everything kolaches are to die for! | 1603 S. Congress

Another gorgeous space both indoor and outdoor. This one gets extra points because they serve beer and wine, too! They also have live music sometimes. | 2159 S. Lamar

Figure 8

This is a great plant-filled space. They have rotating roasters. Always good coffee. | 1111 Chicon

Cafe No Sé

You just can't go wrong. Great atmosphere & great food. | 1603 S. Congress

Amazing brunch! Get a mimosa. | 514 Colorado

Comfort food and cocktails? Yes please. | 506 West

While the other three on this list are more of the bougie brunch type, this one is my go-to for breakfast tacos. I love the Frontera Fundido with portobello. My mouth is watering…

I like the Spyglass location, but there are a few in town. | 1500 Spyglass

One of my favorites! The food (and margaritas) are good, not the best Tex Mex in town, but the atmosphere makes up for it. There is tons of outdoor seating, and the decor is amazing both inside and out. | 1703 S. 1st

Hot dogs & cold beer. Does it get better? | 407 Colorado

Great place for food and drinks with big parties. It's a lively spot with tons of outdoor seating. My friends and I like to go here before going to the bars on Rainey or a concert at Stubb's. | 79 Rainey

La Condesa

My favorite margarita in town. This is one of the most gorgeously decorated restaurants I've been to. I've been for happy hour, brunch, lunch, dinner, drinks after a show… There's no bad time to come here. | 400 W. 2nd

True Food Kitchen

A great spot for health-conscious food. I love this space and the location — a great area to walk around in. | 222 West

YUM. Love their stuffed ricotta app and burger for the main. Can't go wrong with the birthday cake ice cream sandwich for dessert! This space is gorgeous — can my house look like this? | 2115 Holly

Hillside Farmacy

Get the burger and mac & cheese. Trust me. Also, this spot is super cute. | 1209 E. 11th

Salty Sow

One of my favorite spots for a nice meal and drinks with a friend. The inside is cozy, and they also have a great patio. | 1917 Manor

Hotel San Jose

By far my favorite spot for happy hour in Austin. I love their frosé and champassion. | 1316 S. Congress

Easy Tiger

My go-to spot for a spot to grab a beer and pretzel. I love their patio. They also have ping pong tables! | 709 E. 6th

Shangri-La/The Liberty

Of all the bars on the list, these are the most "Austin" in my book. They are on the same strip and are essentially the exact same in my book, which is why I grouped them together. They both have a divey feel inside, and in the back, there are patios with picnic tables and string lights. At Shangri-La, there is a Creole food truck in the back, where I love to get the green bean casserole. My fave drink there is the peach tea frozen drink — it's pretty girly, with cocktail umbrella and all. The Liberty is a great spot to grab a beer, and they have an East Side King truck in the back (!!!). | 1016 E. 6th | 1618 E. 6th

I've only been to the bar here, but I really want to try the restaurant. The bar has more of an elevated feel. Lots of young professionals. Don't come here if you aren't into the "West 6th" vibe (I'm usually not, but I come here so that I can get that feel without having to go to West 6th). | 615 S. Lamar

Nails: tenoverten

Non-toxic nail care and a gorgeous space. Yazmin is the only person I'll let touch my eyebrows! They also carry J. Hannah nail polish. My fave! | 1603 S. Congress

Hair: Method

I've been going here for about 2.5 years. Want badass women to do your hair while you sip on a mimosa? Come here. | 1601 E. 5th

Makeup: W3ll People

I buy all of my makeup from W3ll People and Glossier. I am so glad they have a storefront in town! They also started selling their makeup in Targets across the country. Score. | 215 S. Lamar

My kind of shop. Great home goods, mags, jewelry, and more. | 215 S. Lamar

Moulton/Byron & Blue

I'm really not sure which is which. They are at the same address. I love this store! Great clothing, prints, and jewelry. | 908 E. 5th

A men's store. Great spot for gifts for the guys in your life. | 1423 S. Congress

take heart

I love their home goods and gift options. | 1111 E. 11th

The Paper and Craft Pantry

My friend Pei owns this store! It's the best spot in town to buy stationery, craft items, prints, and planners. They also have an open studio every Friday afternoon, when you can come in with your laptop and work at their big table! It's a great place to meet other creative people in town. | 2511 E. 6th
