I am so excited to share that in April 2017, I will begin offering one-on-one mentoring sessions for photographers. I've learned over the years that I am just as passionate about teaching as I am photographing, so I'm launching a new branch of my business to incorporate photographer education.
I'm a one-woman show, and I've taught myself nearly everything I know about photography and running a small business. Teaching myself meant I was mostly operating on a trial-and-error basis — and I have made a LOT of mistakes along the way! I'm still learning, but my hope is to share with you some valuable information to help you grow your photography business.
I will be offering one-on-one mentoring sessions both in-person and over Skype. Each session will be one hour and is tailored to the recipient, but some possible topics we can cover are:
- Branding your business
- Developing your photography style
- Defining your ideal client
- Crafting the client experience
- Posing clients
- Lightroom editing
- Portfolio review
- Setting goals
- Shooting in both film & digital
- Any other photography- or business-related topic
My hope is to help you avoid some of the missteps I've made. I want to help you achieve your photography business goals and share some of what I've learned along the way. Will you join me?
I never considered that I was at the point in my photography business when I would be offering mentoring sessions. I had been feeling that I wasn't quite "there" yet — I hadn't had enough clients, enough profit, enough goals met. But the reality is that I have grown my business significantly since I launched it six years ago. I've learned what works for me. It is working for me, and sometimes that feels like a miracle! In reality, it's the right combination of passion, business strategy, eye for beauty, and well, maybe a bit of luck. Enough people have asked me for mentor sessions in the past year that I figured, you know what, this is the time. I want your photography business to work for you, too.
So came the dream to offer photographer education. My vision for this new part of my business is threefold: first, to offer one-on-one mentoring sessions, second, to offer free resources here on this blog, and third, to create tutorials and other online workshops for purchase.
As of April, I'm just going to offer mentoring, but the online tutorials and workshops will roll out later this year.
I'M IN. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Great! I am so grateful you are interested in learning from me. There are a couple of ways you can stay in touch with our photographer resources. The first way is to join our newsletter on our new education page. You'll get an email whenever we post here on the blog, and you'll be the first to know when we launch our online workshops.
The second is to book a one-on-one mentoring session. You can do that on the education page, too. Once you book, you can schedule your session right here on my website. I am so excited to meet you and discuss your business goals!
I am thrilled to be launching this new branch. My heart is fluttering with excitement at the idea of sharing with you all the things I've learned about being a small business owner who gets to do what she loves for a living. Let's do this!
